RESOLUTION NO. 2024-093
RESOLUTION APPROVING A COMMUNITY ATTRACTION
AND TOURISM GRANT AGREEMENT NO. 23-CAT-006, IN
THE AMOUNT OF $1,000,000.00, AND AUTHORIZING
REQUIRED GAP FUNDING TO COMPLETE THE
TRANSFORMING GATES AND BYRNES PARKS PROJECT.
WHEREAS On March 2, 2023, the Enhance Iowa Board voted unanimously to award
$1,000,000.00 to the City of Waterloo for the Transforming Gates and Byrnes Parks Project.
WHEREAS the Community Attraction and Tourism Grant Agreement No. 23-CAT-006,
in the amount of $1,000,000.00 for the Transforming Gates and Byrnes Parks Project was
approved by Council April 3, 2023, by Resolution No. 2023-215, and
WHEREAS funding for the $19.8 million project has been identified through private
grants, state and county funds, individual donations, GO Bonds, TIF funds, Storm Water and
Sanitation funds, and
WHEREAS disbursement of said CAT grant funds is necessary for this project.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Community Attraction and Tourism Grant Agreement and
required GAP funding, for the Transforming Gates and Byrnes Parks Project is hereby approved
to commence disbursement of funds.
