HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-897-10/04/2010RESOLUTION NO. 2010-897 RESOLUTION MAKING ASSESSMENTS FOR WORK PERFORMED BY THE WATER WORKS. WHEREAS, the Board of Water Works Trustees of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, did, as provided by law, notify by written notice the property owners of the premises described below to have the repairs completed and further damage prevented, and WHEREAS, the property owners failed to comply with the order of the Board of Water Works Trustees, as by law provided, and WHEREAS, the Board of Water Works Trustees proceeded to have the work done on the premises described below, in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, to comply with Ordinance No. 1118 of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, and WHEREAS, the Board of Water Works Trustees filed with the City Clerk on the 24th day of September, 2010, a report filing claim for the repairs and preventing further damage at the below described premises and same met all the requirements of the City ordinance and have been fully completed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the said report of the Board of Water Works Trustees be, and the same is hereby, approved; that the work was done under and by virtue hereby, accepted, and that the cost of said work is hereby determined to be as follows, which amount can be assessed over a ten-year period against the property: Elmer L. Keninger and Carol J. Keninger, Owners 915 Bertch Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa Legal Description: Lot No. Nine (9) in Block No. Two (2) in "Greenfield Addition" in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Unpaid Assessment: $2,881.00 Michael R. Denton, Sr. & Shari L. Denton, Owners 320 Monroe Street, Waterloo, Iowa Legal Description: Lot No. Five (5) in Block No. Seven (7) in "Hillside Addition" in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Unpaid Assessment: $4,673.07 Barbara J. Kent, Owner 1718 Sager Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa Legal Description: Lot No. Seventeen (17) in Block No. Five (5) in "Alabar Hills" in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Unpaid Assessment: $1,708.00 Resolution No. 2010-897 Page 2 W. Ward Wilkin, Owner 2756 East 4th Street, Waterloo, Iowa Leaal Description: Lot No. One (1) in Block No. Six (6) in North Waterloo Place, an addition to the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Unpaid Assessment: $2,200.00 Amir Hasanagic, Owner 430 Belmont Avenue, Waterloo, Iowa Leaal Description: Lots Nos. Sixteen (16) and Sixteen -A (16-A) in Miller's Replat of Block 5, Conger Park Addition in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Unpaid Assessment: $2,800.00 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that there be, and are hereby assessed and levied a special tax and assessment against the properties improved in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, said assessments shall bear interest from the date of levy of the assessments, viz: October 4, 2010, at the rate of nine (9) percent per annum until paid on all the unpaid amount of these assessments certified to the County Treasurer of Black Hawk County, Iowa, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and she is hereby instructed to notify the above described property owners of said property, accordingly and also instructed to certify said assessments to the County Treasurer of Black Hawk County, Iowa, to be entered upon the tax list to be collected as other taxes, as provided by law, and when collected to be credited to the Water Works Fund of said City, and assessments to be made over a ten-year period.
