HomeMy WebLinkAbout2010-852-09/20/2010RESOLUTION NO. 2010-852 RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AND APPROVING ACQUISITION OF PROPERTY GENERALLY LOCATED AT 123 STANLEY COURT IN THE CITY OF WATERLOO, BLACK HAWK COUNTY, IOWA, AS SET OUT IN THE HUMAN SERVICES CAMPUS PLAN IN THE RATH AREA FOR $650,000.00, PLUS $200,000.00 FOR DEMOLITION AND RELOCATION EXPENSES, AND $10,000.00 IN CLOSING COSTS. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, has negotiated the fair market value, and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has targeted city -owned property in the Rath area for such a development, and fully supports the central campus concept because of its real potential for improving delivery of services to clients, for improving the operational efficiencies of the providers, and for revitalizing a "brownfield" area, and WHEREAS, the acquisition of the hereinafter described parcel is in conjunction with the Human Services Campus Plan, dated September 14, 2009, which recommends acquisition for uses that primarily contribute to improving delivery of services. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the contract for the parcel hereinafter described to sell the same to the City of Waterloo, Iowa, all of which is situated in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa, is accepted and approved and the Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute the same in behalf of the City and to execute all instruments necessary to consummate the agreement to purchase the property from the owners thereof, and the deed for the conveyance of the same is also accepted and approved and the City of Waterloo is directed to pay for the property from City funds. The subject address is: Owners - Howard L. Allen Investments, Inc. Address - 123 Stanley Court Total Acquisition - $650,000.00, plus $200,000.00 for demolition and relocation expenses, and $10,000.00 for closing costs Lots Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 in Parkview in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, except that part thereof conveyed to the State of Iowa by Warranty Deed filed October 11, 1949, in 281 TLD 463. The West 18.75 feet of Lot No. 13, all in Lot No. 14 and the South 20 feet of Lot No. 15 in Parkview in the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Lot No. 15 except the South 20 feet thereof and all of Lot Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21 in Parkview in the City of Waterloo, Iowa. Resolution No. 2010-852 Page 2 The East 180 feet of Lot No. 6 in Assessor Leland's Plat No. 2 in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa. Lots No. 2 and 3 in Parkview in the City of Waterloo, Iowa, except that part thereof conveyed to the State of Iowa by Warranty Deed filed October 11, 1949, at 281 TLD 463, all in the City of Waterloo, Black Hawk County, Iowa.
