RESOLUTION ON THE MATTER OF IMPOSINNG A HOTEL AND MOTEL
TAX OF FIVE PERCENT: (5%) BY THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA.
WHEREAS , the State Legislature by Senate File 336 , Acts of the
67th General Assembly, Second Session, has given cities the power to
impose by ordinance a hotel and motel tax after an election of which
a majority of those voting on the question favors imposition, and
WHEREAS , said City of Waterloo , Iowa desires to impose said
hotel and motel tax, and
WHEREAS , the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa passed
Resolution No . 27058, calling for the following question to be placed
on the November 4, 1980, General Election Ballot :
Shall the City Council of Waterloo impose by ordinance a
hotel and motel tax of five percent in the City of
Waterloo , Iowa, in accordance with and as authorized by
Senate File 336 , Acts of the 67th General Assembly of
Iowa, Second Session? and
WHEREAS , the citizens of said City of Waterloo, Iowa, voted on
November 4th, 1980 , to impose a five percent Hotel and Motel Tax by
a vote of fifteen thousand eighty-five ( 15 , 085) in favor and twelve
thousand seven hundred seventy (12 , 770) against said proposition.
WHEREAS , said City of Waterloo, Iowa, passed Ordinance No . 3117
on December 1 , 1980 adding Chapter 38 to the Code of Ordinances of
the City of Waterloo , Iowa, imposing a Hotel and Motel Tax of five
percent (57) upon the gross receipts from the renting of rooms ,
apartments , or sleeping quarters in any hotel, motel , inn, public
lodging house, rooming house , or tourist court , or in any place where

o BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA,
