RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA
ADOPTING THE NAME "WATERLOO HOUSING AUTHORITY" FOR THE TRANS-
ACTION OF ITS BUSINESS AS THE PUBLIC HOUSING AGENCY FOR THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA.
WHEREAS, on February 24, 1975, by Resolution No. 23748, and again on May
5, 1975, by Resolution No. 23878, the City Council abolished the Low-Rent
Housing Commission of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, and its Board of Commissioners
effective March 1, 1975; and,
WHEREAS, on January 19, 1976, by Resolution No. 24417, the City Council
abolished the Department of Housing and Rehabilitation effective January 19,
1976; and,
WHEREAS, on January 19, 1976, by Resolution No. 24417, the City of Waterloo,
Iowa "itself" assumed the duties and responsibilities as the successor party in
existing contracts with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development;
and,
WHEREAS, on April 5, 1976, by Resolution No, 24497, the City Council as the
Public Housing Agency (PHA) designated the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce as the
Management Group to fully administer and maintain all Low Rent Housing Programs. . .;
and,
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce has routinely conducted the
business of the PHA under the naive "Waterloo Housing Authority," and which name
is beneficially recognized throughout the State of Iowa as the Public Housing
Agency for the City of Waterloo, Iowa,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa that the name of the Public Housing Agency of the City of Waterloo, Iowa
shall be the "Waterloo Housing Authority. "
PASSED AND ADOPTED by the -City Council this 24th day of November, 1980, and
approved by the Mayor this 24th day of November, 1980.
