RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CLOSING OF THE ELEVENTH
STREET BRIDGE EXCEPT FOR TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC ACROSS
THE CEDAR RIVER DURING CONSTRUCTION OF FLOOD CONTROL
WORKS .
WHEREAS , the U. S . Army Corp of Engineers has let a contract
for Stage III-E of the Waterloo Flood Control Project, and
WHEREAS , it is necessary that a portion of the West
Eleventh Street Bridge across the Cedar River be temporarily closed
to permit relignment of the existing sanitary sewer and construct-
ion of the closure structure,now, therefore ,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA
that the Eleventh Street Bridge over the Cedar River be closed
except for two lanes of traffic to facilitate traffic flow.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that reducing the speed limit be in-
vestigated on the open lanes .
Passed and adopted this 8th day of December , 1980 .
