ADDENDUM NO. 1
TO THE CONSTRUCTION SPECIFICATION AND CONSTRUCTION PLANS FOR THE
F. Y. 2014 ORANGE SCHOOL SANITARY SEWER
EXTENSIONS, CONTRACT NO. 816
WATERLOO, IA

LETTING DATE AND TIME: December 2,2013 4:00 P.M.
TO ALL BIDDERS ON THE ABOVE PROJECT:
1. Revise all trench excavation backfill and compaction requirements to a minimum compaction of
90% of standard proctor density in the Construction Plans and Contract Specifications except for
compaction within the Hammond Road Right-of-Way which shall not be changed.
2. Revise Bid Reference Note 102 on Sheet 3 of the Construction Plans to require the mounting of
chimney seals on the interior of the manhole frame rather than the exterior.
3. Delete Section 6010, 3.01 K.2. Molded Shield from the Contract Specifications.
4. Add the following special Provision to the Special Provisions in the Contract Specifications:
19. WINTER CONSTRUCTION
Construction of this project may be temporarily stopped at the Engineer's discretion
if weather and/or soil conditions are encountered that in the Engineer's opinion,may be
detrimental to the proper completion of the project. Said temporary stoppage shall not
change the specified completion date.
5. The Construction Plans and Contract Specifications are hereby changed to delete the use of
manhole adjustment rings, and to require that the constructed rim elevation of all manholes be
constructed within 6"±of the design manhole rim elevation without the use of adjustment rings.
Contractor shall submit all manhole drawings to Engineer for review and said review and
approval shall be completed by Engineer and submitted to Contractor prior to any manhole
fabrication.
6. Add the following to Bid Reference Note 103 on Sheet 3 of the Construction Plans.
Said tap shall be made by core drilling a circular hole of appropriate size for the new sewer
pipe, inserting an approved flexible water tight connector and internal expansion sleeve and
installing said pipe and materials as per the manufacturer's recommendation in a water tight
manner. Concrete collars shall not be used around flexible connectors.

7. Add the following to Bid Item 203 on Sheet 3 of the Construction Plans:
Item is to be completed as per the details for ditch check silt fence on IDOT Standard Road
Plan EC-201,
The bidder shall acknowledge receipt of this Addendum by inserting the number and date in the
spaces provided in the Form of Bid or Proposal, Item 6.
