HomeMy WebLinkAboutCraig Ritland Landscape Architects-Professional Services Agreement-07.07.2008 AMENDMENT#4 TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN CLIENT AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
In accordance with the agreement dated April 25, 2006 between the following parties:
CLIENT: Waterloo Development Corporation and the City of Waterloo
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: Craig Ritland Landscape Architects (CRLA)
for the following PROJECT: WATERLOO EXPOSITION GROUNDS, PHASE I
Authorization is requested to proceed with the following additional services:
PUBLIC MARKET ROOF IMPROVEMENTS: Our original contract included construction documents
for the proposed Public Market building but did not include roof reconstruction. We are proposing the
following additional services as per the terms of our existing contract.
SCOPE OF WORK
In reviewing existing conditions for the building, we had our structural engineers assess the existing
roof structure to determine its ability to support rooftop mechanical units. They determined that the
roof has no additional load carrying capacity, and that the roof structure does not meet current codes.
The roof can most likely remain as is, if we do not significantly modify the loading conditions. We
therefore had to redesign the HVAC units to accommodate an in-building installation since rooftop
units could not be used as originally planned.
We also reviewed the condition of the existi ng built up roof with Service Roofing. They have patched
holes in the roof on an annual basis and informed us that roof has no useful life remaining. Because
of the condition of the roof structure we will need to remove the existing roof and insulation down to
deck, and install a new vapor barrier, insulation and single ply roof membrane to make the building
watertight.
FEES
Based upon the above expanded scope of work and services anticipated, Craig Ritland Landscape
Architects (and their subconsultants)will provide the services described above, and in accordance
with the conditions outlined in our contract, for a sum not to exceed $7,000.
