State anticipated start and completion dates. If this project is a phase of a larger project, please state its relationship to that project. The Mark's Park and Performance Structure project creates two unique spaces on the banks of the Cedar River in downtown Waterloo. Mark's Park will be a 4,200 square foot family-friendly urban park with play equipment and splash features overlooking the Cedar River. The Performance Structure will turn a planned 15,000 square foot Amphitheatre area into a true stage for concerts, shows, and exhibitions by providing a stage structure, lighting, and backdrop. These two elements have been added to the original River Renaissance project currently being implemented in Waterloo. The anticipated start date for the project is August, 2009, with completion planned for December, 2010. Recently, the Mark's Park and Performance Structure project has been C°LE added to the overall River Renaissance to greatly enhance the riverfront area. HAROLD Mark's Park will be a unique urban park featuring state of the art play equipment and GEITY splash features. The park will be a raised structure on the top of the levee, offering a It",`] tremendous view of and connection to the Cedar River. Adjacent to the park is the TIN M. Amphitheatre area, a part of the original River Renaissance which will be under ..ART construction this summer. The Amphitheatre will accommodate thousands of people IV""'{4 for concerts, theatrical productions, and other shows and events. This project proposes EON a Performance Structure to enhance the Amphitheatre area by providing a true stage, WEEPER with a professional backdrop and lighting. IVar,1 ti Both Mark's Park and the Performance Structure will greatly enhance the lower plaza BOB area of the River Renaissance. These structures will create ties to the Cedar River by GREENWOODE At-IrarKe using it as both a feature attraction in and of itself, and as a backdrop for performances and events. The project has wide public and private support, and is requesting your STEVE financial assistance to become a reality. Mark's Park and the Performance Structure SCHMITT tc_Lrz,e, will provide extended cultural, recreational, and entertainment opportunities for downtown Waterloo and help make the riverfront area a focal point for activity.
