AMENDMENT #1 TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN CLIENT AND LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
In accordance with the agreement dated April 25, 2006 between the following parties:
CLIENT: Waterloo Development Corporation and the City of Waterloo
LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT: Craig Ritland Landscape Architects (CRLA)
for the following PROJECT: WATERLOO EXPOSITION GROUNDS, PHASE I
Authorization is requested to proceed with the following additional services:
Since the project phasing has been compressed from our original proposal, as per the terms of our
contract, we are notifying you of the increase in project scope and additional services required by this
change. Our contract includes design development services for both Phase I and Phase II (as
outlined in the phasing plan created by Vandewalle &Associates) but construction documents for
Phase I only. We are proposing the following additional services as per the terms of our existing
contract:
1. Geotechnical Survey— The original contract we drew up had left out all surveying (including
geotechnical sampling and reports) to give the City an opportunity to elect to do this work if their
workload permitted it. When we were asked to add surveying to our contract, we did not include
geotechnical surveying in our fees.
2. Expansion of Phase I Construction Documents— Construction of the North Exposition Area,
Jefferson Street improvements, and four intersection crossings has been shifted forward from
Phase II (not previously in the contract) to be included in the Phase I project. Work includes
additional demolition, site grading and subgrade preparation, storm sewer, light tower, electrical
supply, lighting, paving, fencing, reinforced turf, and landscaping.
Based upon the above expanded scope of work and services anticipated, Craig Ritland Landscape
Architects (and their subconsultants) will provide the services described above, and in accordance
with the conditions outlined in our contract, for a sum not to exceed $36,000.
Geotechnical Survey $ 3,000
Expanded Phase I Construction Documents $33,000
