Dear Jim or Current Contact Person:
On behalf of the Iowa Department of Transportation, I would like to thank your organization for its
participation in the DOT'S Adopt-A-Highway program. Enclosed please find your Certificate of
Appreciation for your efforts and dedication over the past 2 years in helping to maintain and enhance
the beauty of Iowa's roadside.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage your group to continue its work along the same
section of highway. We appreciate the good work and cooperation your group has done for Iowa
through this program. If you are interested in renewing your Adopt-A-Highway section please fill out the
enclosed renewal form and return to my office in the stamped-addressed envelope. If you are not
planning to renew, PLEASE USE THE ENCLOSED ENVELOPE TO SEND A NOTE STATING THE
SAME,OR PHONE ME AT 1-800-373-7341.
Your organization's responsibilities would continue as in the past. Your organization would be required
to do liter pickup twice a year. Remember to have a safety meeting before you venture out to do your
litter pickup and wear safety vests when you are working within our right-of-way. The orange vests and
bags are provided for you and we encourage you to use them when you are working within our right-of-
way. Please notify the maintenance garage after you have completed your litter pickup, so your
organization can be credited for their work. Please leave the orange bags by your sign so they can be
picked up.
