RESOLUTION OF THE WATERLOO CITY COUNCIL
SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION TO THE IOWA
DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT FOR A
COMMUNITY ATTRACTION AND TOURISM GRANT AND
COMMITTING FINANCIAL SUPPORT TO THE CEDAR
VALLEY SPORTSPLEX PROJECT.
WHEREAS, there is a recognized need for enhanced indoor
recreation opportunities in the Cedar Valley, and;
WHEREAS, after reviewing and approving the concept of the
Cedar Valley SportsPlex project, the City Council supports the
Waterloo Development Corporation's submittal of a grant
application for Community Attraction and Tourism (CAT) funds to
support the development of the Cedar Valley SportsPlex project,
and;
WHEREAS, there has been widespread local support for the
Cedar Valley SportsPlex project, the City of Waterloo herewith
commits $1,984,192.61 towards development of the Cedar Valley
SportsPlex, subject to receiving a CAT grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that they support the Cedar Valley
SportsPlex project and the submission of the Community
Attraction and Tourism grant application.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Waterloo, herewith commits $1,984,192.61 to the Cedar Valley
SportsPlex project, subject to funding by the CAT grant program.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 3rd day of January, 2011.
