RESOLUTION NO. 2024-600
RESOLUTION APPROVING AN AGREEMENT WITH
MIDAMERICAN ENERGY COMPANY, OF DES MOINES,
IOWA, IN THE ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF $595,271.60, IN
CONJUNCTION WITH THE GAS MAIN EXTENSION TO
SERVICE SOUTH WATERLOO BUSINESS PARK, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is committed to enhancing its infrastructure to promote
economic development and support the anticipated growth within the South Waterloo Business
Park; and
WHEREAS, the project requires the extension of existing gas utilities to provide reliable
and sufficient energy services conducive to attracting and retaining business ventures in the area;
and
WHEREAS, MidAmerican Energy Company has proposed to undertake the gas main
extension project, with works scoped and costed at an estimated total of $595,271.60, to
adequately serve the South Waterloo Business Park; and
WHEREAS, a contractual agreement has been drafted to outline terms of services,
financial responsibilities, and project deliverables between the City of Waterloo and
MidAmerican Energy Company.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The agreement with MidAmerican Energy Company, in the estimated amount
of $595,271.60, for the gas main extension to the South Waterloo Business Park is hereby
approved.
2. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute said agreement and any necessary
related documentation to facilitate project commencement and progression.
3. The Engineering Department is charged with oversight of the project's progress and
must report back to the council on key milestones and any deviations from the projected
estimates or timelines.
4. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
