RESOLUTION NO. 2024-602
RESOLUTION AMENDING THE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
AGREEMENT WITH NUTRI-JECT SYSTEMS INC., OF
HUDSON, IOWA, TO EXTEND THE CONTRACT FOR A
TERM OF FIVE YEARS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
BIOSOLIDS MANAGEMENT, STORAGE, AND LAND
APPLICATION, WITH NO INCREASE TO THE CURRENT
CONTRACT RATE, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has maintained a beneficial partnership with Nutri-Ject
Systems Inc. for the management, storage, and land application of biosolids, contributing to the
city's environmental sustainability efforts; and
WHEREAS, the expertise and performance of Nutri-Ject Systems Inc. have consistently
met the city's standards for biosolids management, making it advantageous to continue this
professional relationship; and
WHEREAS, an amendment to the existing Professional Services Agreement has been
proposed to extend the duration for an additional five years, maintaining the current contract rate,
thereby ensuring fiscal responsibility and service continuity; and
WHEREAS, this contractual extension will support ongoing environmental management
objectives without incurring additional costs or requiring rate adjustments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The amendment to the Professional Services Agreement with Nutri-Ject Systems Inc.
to extend the contract by five additional years is hereby approved, affirming the continuation of
their biosolids management services at the existing rate.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute the necessary
documentation to formalize this amendment, ensuring ongoing compliance with city contracts
and objectives.
3. The Waste Management Department will continue to monitor and evaluate the
performance of Nutri-Ject Systems Inc., providing reports to the city council to ensure alignment
with intended outcomes and community standards.
4. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
