RESOLUTION NO. 2024-584
RESOLUTION APPROVING PRELIMINARY PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS, FORM OF CONTRACT, ETC., SETTING
DATE OF BID OPENING AS OCTOBER 24, 2024, AND DATE
OF PUBLIC HEARING AS NOVEMBER 4, 2024, IN
CONJUNCTION WITH DEMOLITION AND SITE
CLEARANCE SERVICES, CONTRACT NO. D-2024-10-04P,
AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has determined that the Demolition and Site Clearance
Services Project, Contract No. D-2024-10-04P, for property located at 105 E. llth Street (part of
the former lumberyard), 114 E. l0th Street (former Andrews Auto), 100 E. 9th Street a.k.a. 105
E. l0th Street (former Crystal Ice building), and 1202 Sycamore Street (a single family home), is
necessary to progress with removing blighted/abandoned buildings, and
WHEREAS, the structures have been tested and abated for asbestos and are now ready
for demolition; and
WHEREAS, the preliminary plans, specifications, form of contract, etc., have been
prepared by the City Planning and Zoning Depai tiiient, reviewed, and found to meet municipal
standards; and
WHEREAS, the approval of these documents and the scheduling of a bid opening and
public hearing are necessary steps toward project initiation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The preliminary plans, specifications, and form of contract for the Demolition and
Site Clearance Services Project, Contract No. D-2024-10-04P for property located at 105 E. llth
Street (part of the former lumberyard), 114 E. l0th Street (former Andrews Auto), 100 E. 9th
Street a.k.a. 105 E. l0th Street (former Crystal Ice building), and 1202 Sycamore Street (a single
family home), are hereby approved.
2. The bid opening for the project is scheduled for October 24, 2024.
3. The public hearing is scheduled for November 4, 2024, to allow for community input
and transparency.
4. The City Clerk is directed to publish appropriate notices for the bid opening and public
hearing in compliance with the legal requirements.
5. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
