RESOLUTION NO. 2024-590
RESOLUTION ACCEPTING AN IOWA DOT AIR SERVICE
DEVELOPMENT GRANT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $48,000.00,
WITH A TWENTY -PERCENT MATCH, FOR PROMOTING
PASSENGER AIR SERVICE FROM THE WATERLOO
REGIONAL AIRPORT THROUGH STRATEGIC
ADVERTISING, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
AIRPORT DIRECTOR TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) has awarded a grant to
the City of Waterloo, in the amount of $48,000.00, for the purpose of promoting passenger air
service at the Waterloo Regional Airport through strategic advertising campaigns; and
WHEREAS, the grant requires a twenty -percent (20%) match from the City, amounting
to $12,000.00, to be funded from available budgetary allocations of the Waterloo Regional
Airport; and
WHEREAS, increasing passenger air service is vital for economic development and
community connectivity within Waterloo and the surrounding region.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Iowa DOT Air Service Development grant, in the amount of $48,000.00, is hereby
accepted for the purpose of enhancing passenger air service through targeted advertising efforts.
2. The City will provide the required twenty -percent (20%) match of $12,000.00,
ensuring compliance with grant requirements.
3. The Airport Director, in collaboration with city staff, is authorized to undertake all
actions necessary to implement advertising strategies funded by the grant.
4. The Mayor and Airport Director are hereby authorized and directed to execute all
necessary documents and agreements pertaining to the grant award.
5. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
