RESOLUTION NO. 2024-629 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTIES LOCATED WITHIN THE WALNUT NEIGHBORHOOD, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1.00 EACH TO IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo owns certain properties within the Walnut Neighborhood that are suitable for residential development and aimed at community revitalization; and WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity has expressed interest in acquiring four properties to construct affordable housing, supporting their mission of providing homeownership opportunities to families in need; and WHEREAS, selling these properties for the nominal amount of$1.00 each will further the city's commitment to affordable housing and neighborhood revitalization, resulting in social and economic benefits for the community. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. The City Council hereby approves the sale and conveyance of identified city-owned properties within the Walnut Neighborhood to Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for $1.00 each. 2. The transfer of these properties is intended to empower Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity to proceed with constructing affordable housing, thereby contributing to community development and improving resident quality of life. 3. The Planning Department shall oversee the execution of this transaction and ensure adherence to the terms specified, facilitating cooperation between the city and Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity. 4. The Planning and Zoning Depai tiuent shall ensure that the execution follows all applicable legal and regulatory standards, and will monitor the sidewalk construction under the terms of the Development Agreement. 5. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute all necessary documents and agreements to complete the sale and conveyance on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. 6. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
