RESOLUTION NO. 2024-630
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A DEVELOPMENT
AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR
HUMANITY FOR CONSTRUCTING THREE SINGLE-
FAMILY HOMES, WITH A TOTAL OF $15,000.00 INFILL
HOUSING GRANT OF $5,000.00 PER HOME, AND
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO
EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo acknowledges the importance of expanding affordable
housing options and supports initiatives that utilize infill properties for community development;
and
WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity plans to construct three single-family
homes, undertaking valuable work that provides affordable housing solutions for families in
need; and
WHEREAS, the City proposes an Infill Housing Grant totaling $15,000.00 to be
distributed as $5,000.00 per home, in support of these construction projects and to encourage
neighborhood revitalization.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Development Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity is approved,
facilitating the construction of three single-family homes and supporting the city's goal of
increasing affordable housing.
2. The City Council authorizes the allocation of the $15,000.00 Infill Housing Grant to be
used specifically as $5,000.00 for each single-family home under construction as part of this
Agreement.
3. The Planning Department will coordinate with Habitat for Humanity to oversee the
appropriate application of grant funds and ensure compliance with the terms stated in the
Development Agreement.
5. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute the necessary
Development Agreement and related documents on behalf of the City of Waterloo, ensuring
project initiation.
6. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21st day of October 2024.
