RESOLUTION NO. 2024-634 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A FORECAST AND DATA SUPPORT AGREEMENT WITH BAMWX, IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,397.50 PER YEAR FOR THREE YEARS, FOR PROVIDING WEATHER RADAR FORECASTING TOOLS, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo seeks to enhance its weather monitoring capabilities by acquiring access to advanced weather radar forecasting tools to improve public safety, resource management, and operational planning; and WHEREAS, BAMWX offers specialized forecasting services and tools that have been evaluated as suitable for fulfilling the city's weather data and forecasting requirements at an annual cost of $3,397.50 over a three-year period; and WHEREAS, engaging with BAMWX through this agreement will assist in improving the city's decision -making processes related to weather -dependent activities and emergency preparedness. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. The Forecast and Data Support Agreement with BAMWX is approved, confirming the terms and conditions for the provision of weather radar forecasting tools at the agreed annual fee for a term of three years. 2. The agreement commits the city to an expenditure of $3,397.50 per year for the duration of the agreement, amounting to a total of $10,192.50 over the three-year span. 3. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute this Agreement with BAMWX, enabling the delivery and integration of these weather services for municipal use. 4. The Public Works Department is charged with working closely with BAMWX to ensure effective implementation, utilization, and assessment of the forecasting tools to optimize benefits. 5. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage, facilitating prompt availability and application of enhanced weather forecasting infrastructure.
