RESOLUTION NO. 2024-636 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A FEDERAL -AID AGREEMENT, WITH THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION, IN THE AMOUNT OF $750,000.00, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE RAILYARD RELOCATION STUDY FOR THE RAILYARD LOCATED AT 1006 E. 4TH STREET AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo recognizes the strategic importance of conducting a Railyard Relocation Study for the railyard located at 1006 E. 4th Street to improve urban planning, reduce congestion, and enhance the city's infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the Federal Highway Administration has agreed to provide federal assistance in the amount of $750,000.00 under the Federal -aid Agreement, contributing significantly to the funding requirements of this study; and WHEREAS, entering into this Federal -aid Agreement will facilitate the availability of funds necessary for the preliminary study activities, including analysis of relocation logistics, feasibility assessments, and environmental impact evaluations; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is in the public interest to enter into this agreement to ensure the effective commencement and execution of the Railyard Relocation Study. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. That the Federal -aid Agreement in the amount of $750,000.00 with the Federal Highway Administration is hereby approved for the Railyard Relocation Study concerning the railyard at 1006 E. 4th Street. 2. That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City of Waterloo. 3. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
