RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN EXCEPTION TO THE
CITY OF WATERLOO PURCHASING POLICY FOR
PURCHASING TWO CHEVY COLORADO'S, IN THE
AMOUNT OF $69,375.60 FROM KARL CHEVROLET, FOR
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo Police Department requires the procurement of two
new vehicles to enhance operational efficiency and ensure public safety; and
WHEREAS, the standard City of Waterloo Purchasing Policy typically mandates
competitive bidding for purchases, but an exception is sought to expedite procurement due to
specific requirements or time constraints; and
WHEREAS, Karl Chevrolet offers a suitable and timely deal for two Chevy Colorado
vehicles at a total cost of $69,375.60, meeting the department's immediate needs and budgetary
considerations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. An exception to the standard City of Waterloo Purchasing Policy is hereby authorized
to facilitate the direct purchase of two Chevy Colorados from Karl Chevrolet for police use.
2. The purchase of the two vehicles, at the agreed amount of $69,375.60, is approved in
consideration of the public safety benefits and fulfillment of departmental requirements.
3. The Public Works Department is empowered to execute the necessary documents and
actions to complete this transaction with Karl Chevrolet in a timely and efficient manner.
