RESOLUTION APPROVING THE UTILITY CORRIDOR CONCEPT IN
CONJUNCTION WITH RELOCATED U.S. HIGHWAY 218,
IX-218-7( 63 ) --3P-07, AND REQUESTING THE IOWA DEPARTMENT
OF TRANSPORTATION TO PROCEED WITH THE ACQUISITION OF
PROPERTIES TO ACCOMMODATE SAID CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS, the State of Iowa has undertaken the Relocated U.S.
Highway 218 Project (IX-218-7 ( 63 ) --3P-07) , and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that a utility corridor from
Cleveland Street to Ansborough Avenue on the southerly side of
Relocated U.S. Highway 218 could accommodate a 36 inch sanitary
interceptor sewer which would be connected from North Hackett Road
Pump Station to the Pump Station on University Avenue and Highway
63 , and
WHEREAS, the installation of said sewer will relieve the
heavy load currently on the Hackett Road Pump Station, and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to acquire approximately 20 homes
within the said proposed utility corridor, and
WHEREAS, said property owners of the affected homes within
the proposed utility corridor have been contacted and informed of
this action, and
WHEREAS, said properties will be acquired by the Iowa
Department of Transportation with the assistance of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, that the Utility Corridor Concept and
location be and the same hereby approved from Cleveland Street to
Ansborough Avenue on the southerly side of Relocated U.S. Highway
218 , IX-218-7( 63 ) --3P-07 .
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA, that City staff be and the same are hereby
instructed to seek an agreement with the Iowa Department of
Transportation to commence acquisition of said properties within
the utility corridor described above.
