RESOLUTION NO. 2024-656
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A PROJECT DEMOLITION
AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR
HUMANITY FOR THE DEMOLITION OF PROPERTIES
LOCATED AT 512 ALMOND STREET AND 222 RANDALL
STREET, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has identified the properties at 512 Almond Street and
222 Randall Street as candidates for demolition to remove blighted structures and promote
community development; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity has agreed to undertake the
demolition of these properties through a Project Demolition Agreement, aligning with their
mission to improve and revitalize communities; and
WHEREAS, this collaboration is intended to clear these sites for potential redevelopment
in a manner that supports neighborhood improvement and aligns with the city's strategic
objectives; and
WHEREAS, the proposed Agreement has been reviewed and deemed satisfactory to
facilitate the demolition activities and ensure all necessary legal and safety considerations are
met; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Project Demolition Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the
demolition of properties at 512 Almond Street and 222 Randall Street is hereby approved,
subject to the terms and conditions contained therein.
2. The Agreement intends to facilitate the safe and effective demolition of blighted
structures to prepare these sites for future community -friendly redevelopment.
3. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute said
Development Agreement on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
4. This resolution shall take effect upon its passage and approval.
