RESOLUTION NO. 2024-671
A RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
DECEMBER 2, 2024, FOR APPROVAL OF A DEVELOPMENT
AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR
HUMANITY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE SALE AND
CONVEYANCE OF ONE VACANT LOT LOCATED WITHIN
THE WALNUT NEIGHBORHOOD, WITH A GRANT OF
$5,000.00 FOR INFILL HOUSING DEVELOPMENT FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW SINGLE-FAMILY HOME, AND
INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, proposes to enter into a Development
Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity related to the sale and conveyance of a
vacant lot located within the Walnut Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, as part of this agreement, the City proposes to issue a grant of $5,000.00 to
promote infill housing development for the construction of a new single-family home, consistent
with city objectives to revitalize and improve local neighborhoods; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing is required to approve the Development Agreement and
hear from interested citizens before the finalization of such agreements, ensuring transparency
and community involvement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, shall meet in the Harold E. Getty Council
Chambers at City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa, at 5:30 p.m. on the 2nd day of December 2024, to hold a
public hearing to discuss the sale and conveyance of one vacant lot located within the Walnut
Neighborhood.
2. The purpose of the hearing is to allow for public input on the sale and conveyance of
the vacant lot and the issuance of a $5,000.00 grant facilitating the infill housing project by Iowa
Heartland Habitat for Humanity.
