RESOLUTION NO. 2024-726
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SALE AND
CONVEYANCE OF CITY-OWNED PROPERTY, A VACANT
LOT LOCATED WITHIN THE WALNUT NEIGHBORHOOD,
IN THE AMOUNT OF $1.00 TO IOWA HEARTLAND
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, owns a certain vacant lot within the Walnut
Neighborhood which is not needed for public use; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity has expressed interest in acquiring
this vacant lot to further its mission of providing affordable housing solutions within the
community; and
WHEREAS, the proposed sale for the nominal sum of One Dollar ($1.00) facilitates
community development and supports non-profit efforts to increase affordable housing, aligning
with the City's strategic goals; and
WHEREAS, and a public hearing has been conducted on December 2, 2024, in
accordance with Chapter 364.7 of the Code of Iowa, with no objections raised that would
preclude the transaction.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The sale and conveyance of the vacant lot located within the Walnut Neighborhood to
Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the nominal consideration of One Dollar ($1.00) is
hereby approved.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute said
document on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption and approval.
