RESOLUTION NO. 2024-734
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PRECONSTRUCTION
AGREEMENT WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE USE OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO RIGHT-OF-WAY, FOR PRIMARY ROAD
IMPROVEMENTS PERTAINING TO THE ASPHALT
RESURFACING OF US HWY. 63 FROM UNIVERSITY
AVENUE TO US HIGHWAY 20 AND AUTHORIZING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID
DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) has proposed improvements
and necessary upgrades to the primary road system, specifically along US Hwy. 63 from University
Avenue to US Hwy. 20; and
WHEREAS, these improvements include the asphalt resurfacing of the designated
section, aimed at enhancing road safety, drivability, and overall infrastructure quality; and
WHEREAS, portions of this project will involve utilization of the City of Waterloo's
Right -of -Way, necessitating a formal agreement to outline responsibilities and terms between the
City of Waterloo and IDOT; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo recognizes the benefits these improvements bring to its
residents and supports the collaboration with IDOT for efficient project execution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Preconstruction Agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for the
use of City Right -of -Way associated with the asphalt resurfacing project is hereby approved.
2. Engineering, is directed to coordinate with IDOT to ensure preparations and
compliance with the terms of the agreement, minimizing any disruption to the community.
3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by
the City Council.
