RESOLUTION NO. 2024-735
A RESOLUTION APPROVING A TRAFFIC CONTROL
DEVICE AGREEMENT WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE INSTALLATION AND
MAINTENANCE OF PEDESTRIAN PUSH -BUTTONS ON US
HIGHWAY 63, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the City of Waterloo have
identified the need to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility along US Highway 63 through the
installation of pedestrian push -buttons at designated crosswalks; and
WHEREAS, these enhancements contribute to improved pedestrian flow, safety for
citizens, and align with the city's commitment to fostering safer transportation infrastructures;
and
WHEREAS, an agreement with IDOT is required to detail the responsibilities for the
installation and ongoing maintenance of the pedestrian push -buttons, ensuring clarity and
collaboration between both parties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Traffic Control Device Agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation
for the installation and maintenance of pedestrian push -buttons on US Highway 63 is hereby
approved.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized to execute said document on behalf of the
City of Waterloo, Iowa.
3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its passage and approval by
the City Council.
