A RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
DECEMBER 16, 2024, FOR APPROVAL OF A
DEVELOPMENT AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
SALE AND CONVEYANCE OF 408 VERMONT STREET
LOCATED WITHIN THE CHURCH ROW NEIGHBORHOOD,
WITH A GRANT OF $5,000.00 FOR INFILL HOUSING
DEVELOPMENT FOR THE REHABILITATION OF A
SINGLE-FAMILY HOME, AND WITH A GRANT OF UP TO
$16,885.00 TO COVER THE COSTS OF ASBESTOS
MITIGATION, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO
PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, Iowa, is considering entering into a Development
Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity in conjunction with the sale and
conveyance of property located at 408 Vermont Street within the Church Row Neighborhood;
and
WHEREAS, the agreement provides for a grant of $5,000.00 to support infill housing
development for the rehabilitation of a single-family home; and
WHEREAS, an additional grant of up to $16,885.00 is included to cover costs associated
with asbestos mitigation at the said property; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing is required to approve the Development Agreement and
hear from interested citizens before the finalization of such agreements, ensuring transparency
and community involvement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, shall meet in the Harold E. Getty Council
Chambers at City Hall, Waterloo, Iowa, at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th day of December 2024, for the
purpose of considering the approval of the Development Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat
for Humanity, relating to 408 Vermont Street.
2. Public hearing discussions will include the consideration of the $5,000.00 grant for
infill development and the discretionary grant of up to $16,885.00 for asbestos mitigation
coverage.
