RESOLUTION NO. 2025-043 A RESOLUTION APPROVING A NEIGHBORHOOD ACCESS AND EQUITY GRANT AGREEMENT IN THE AMOUNT OF $750,000.00 WITH THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION IN RELATION TO THE CANADIAN NATIONAL RAILYARD RELOCATION STUDY, LOCATED AT 1006 E. 4TH STREET, AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is undertaking a study to explore the relocation of the Canadian National Railyard to enhance neighborhood access and equity; and WHEREAS, the United States Department of Transportation has awarded a Neighborhood Access and Equity grant in the amount of $750,000.00 to support this study; and WHEREAS, the grant will facilitate comprehensive analysis and planning efforts to identify optimal relocation strategies for the railyard, thereby promoting community connectivity and reducing environmental impacts; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. The Neighborhood Access and Equity Grant Agreement with the United States Department of Transportation in the amount of $750,000.00 is hereby approved. 2. The funds received shall be used explicitly for the purposes outlined in the grant agreement, ensuring diligent financial management and reporting as required by the grantor. 3. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said documents on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 21s` day of January 2025.
