HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-626-06/27/2011RESOLUTION NO. 2011-626 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA, APPROVING APPLICATION TO THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR STATE RECREATIONAL TRAILS FUNDING AND DIRECTING EXECUTION OF SAID APPLICATION BY WATERLOO CITY COUNCIL. WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation administers the State Recreational Trails program for the State of Iowa; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo, in partnership with the Waterloo Development Corporation, the Iowa DOT, the Vision Iowa Board and other agencies, is investing in improvements to the Riverfront in the form of the Cedar Valley River Renaissance project; and WHEREAS, the development of multi -use land trails along the Cedar River and water trails is an integral component of the Cedar Valley River Renaissance project including the improvements to the Cedar Valley Lakes Trail and connection of Brinker Lake to the Cedar River Water Trail; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is willing to maintain these improvements for a minimum of twenty years; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo will provide the 25 percent local match as required, estimated at $213,988.00. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Waterloo, Iowa, authorizes the Mayor to sign the application to be submitted to the Iowa Department of Transportation for State Recreational Trails funding. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Iowa Northland Regional Council of Governments is hereby authorized to submit said application to the Iowa Department of Transportation on behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
