RESOLUTION NO. 2025-073
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF
HOTEL/MOTEL TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS
TO MAIN STREET WATERLOO IN THE AMOUNT OF
$15,000.00 FOR DOWNTOWN BEAUTIFICATION.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo collects funds from the Hotel/Motel Tax, which
includes a discretionary fund allocated by the City Council to support community initiatives and
projects; and
WHEREAS, Main Street Waterloo has submitted a proposal for the utilization of
discretionary funds towards downtown beautification efforts, aimed at enhancing the aesthetic
appeal and vibrancy of Waterloo's downtown area; and
WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the positive impact of downtown beautification
on community development, tourism, and economic enhancement; and
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate to allocate a portion of the Hotel/Motel Tax
Council Discretionary Funds to support the endeavors proposed by Main Street Waterloo;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The City Council hereby approves awarding an amount of Fifteen Thousand Dollars
($15,000.00) from the Hotel/Motel Tax Council Discretionary Fund to Main Street Waterloo for
the purposes of downtown beautification.
2. The funds shall be utilized by Main Street Waterloo solely for the intended downtown
beautification projects, ensuring alignment with the objectives set forth in their proposal.
