RESOLUTION NO. 2025-075 A RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF HOTEL/MOTEL TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO CEDAR VALLEY ARBORETUM AND BOTANIC GARDENS IN THE AMOUNT OF $12,000.00, FOR THE CEDAR VALLEY ARBORETUM TOURISM PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo allocates Hotel/Motel Tax revenue to support projects that enhance tourism and community development through the City Council Discretionary Fund; and WHEREAS, the Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens has proposed the Cedar Valley Arboretum Tourism Project, which aims to increase tourism, enhance visitor experiences, and promote the natural beauty and educational resources of the Arboretum; and WHEREAS, the City Council acknowledges the importance of the project in attracting visitors to the area, thereby supporting local businesses and increasing economic development opportunities within the community; and WHEREAS, the allocation of funds will assist in the realization of the Cedar Valley Arboretum Tourism Project's goals, contributing positively to Waterloo's cultural and ecological initiatives; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. The City Council hereby approves the allocation of Twelve Thousand Dollars ($12,000.00) from the Hotel/Motel Tax Council Discretionary Fund to the Cedar Valley Arboretum and Botanic Gardens for the Cedar Valley Arboretum Tourism Project. 2. These funds are designated for use in promotional activities, facility enhancements, and educational programming associated with the Tourism Project, thereby ensuring alignment with the project's intended objectives.
