RESOLUTION NO. 2025-074
A RESOLUTION APPROVING AWARD OF HOTEL/MOTEL
TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO WATERLOO
CENTER FOR THE ARTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $15,000.00,
FOR THE CHROMA63 FESTIVAL START-UP PROJECT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo allocates a portion of the Hotel/Motel Tax revenue for
discretionary funding by the City Council to support community -oriented projects and initiatives;
and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Center for the Arts has proposed the Chroma63 Festival Start -
Up Project, aimed at enriching the cultural landscape of Waterloo through an innovative arts
festival; and
WHEREAS, the festival is expected to boost tourism, promote local arts, and enhance the
community's cultural offerings, thereby supporting economic and social development in
Waterloo; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds it beneficial to provide financial support for the
initiation of such projects that foster community engagement and enhance Waterloo's cultural
appeal;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The City Council approves the allocation of Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00)
from the Hotel/Motel Tax Council Discretionary Fund to the Waterloo Center for the Arts for the
Chroma63 Festival Start -Up Project.
2. The funds are designated exclusively for the start-up and organizational activities
related to the Chroma63 Festival, ensuring alignment with the festival's goals and objectives.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of February 2025.
