RESOLUTION NO. 2025-121
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF
HOTEL/MOTEL TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS
TO THE WATERLOO URBAN FARMERS MARKET IN THE
AMOUNT OF $15,000.00.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo collects hotel/motel taxes to support projects and
initiatives that enhance the local community and economy; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has discretionary authority over the allocation of these
funds to support events and activities that promote tourism and local economic development; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market provides a valuable community service
by supporting local agriculture and small businesses, and attracting visitors to the downtown
area, contributing to the local economy; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market has submitted a request for funding to
the City Council to aid in the continuation and enhancement of its services; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the request and determined that supporting
the Farmers Market aligns with the goals of economic and community development; and
WHEREAS, the allocation of discretionary funds to the Farmers Market is deemed to be
in the best interest of the City and its citizens;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. That the Waterloo Urban Farmers Market is hereby awarded hotel/motel tax council
discretionary funds in the amount of $15,000.00.
2. That the allocation of these funds supports the Market's efforts to enhance community
engagement, support local businesses, and boost tourism in Waterloo.
3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its approval and adoption by
the City Council.
