RESOLUTION NO. 2025-146
A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF
HOTEL/MOTEL TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS
TO THE WATERLOO MUNICIPAL BAND IN THE AMOUNT
OF $23,000.00.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is committed to supporting cultural and community
activities that enhance the quality of life for its residents; and
WHEREAS, the City receives revenues from the hotel/motel tax which are designated for
the support and promotion of community projects, at the discretion of the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Municipal Band has submitted an application for funding in
the amount of $23,000.00 to support its operations, performances, and community engagements
for the coming year; and
WHEREAS, the Waterloo Municipal Band, as an esteemed ensemble, plays a vital role in
promoting the arts and providing entertainment and educational opportunities to the residents and
visitors of Waterloo; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the allocation of $23,000.00 to the Waterloo
Municipal Band is an appropriate use of the hotel/motel tax discretionary funds and will serve to
advance the cultural development of the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as
follows:
1. The City Council approves the award of hotel/motel tax council discretionary funds in
the amount of $23,000.00 to the Waterloo Municipal Band to support its activities and programs.
2. That the allocation of these funds supports the City's efforts in promoting the arts and
providing entertainment and educational opportunities to the residents and visitors of Waterloo.
3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its approval and adoption by
the City Council.
