RESOLUTION NO. 2025-182 A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE AWARD OF HOTEL/MOTEL TAX COUNCIL DISCRETIONARY FUNDS TO THE NORTH END ARTS AND MUSIC FEST IN THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00. WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is committed to promoting cultural events that enhance the community's cultural landscape and attract visitors to the area; and WHEREAS, the North End Arts and Music Fest is an annual event that significantly contributes to the cultural and artistic vibrancy of the North End community, as well as serving as an attraction for visitors; and WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has designated hotel/motel tax revenues to support local events and initiatives that promote tourism and cultural enrichment; and WHEREAS, the City Council has discretionary authority to allocate funds in support of cultural activities that align with its strategic goals; and WHEREAS, the proposal from the North End Arts and Music Fest has been reviewed, and it has been determined that a financial contribution is warranted and beneficial to both the event organizers and the community at large; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo as follows: 1. The City Council hereby approves the allocation of $5,000.00 from the hotel/motel tax discretionary fund to the North End Arts and Music Fest. 2. That the allocation of these funds supports the City's efforts in promoting the arts and providing entertainment and educational opportunities to the residents and visitors of Waterloo. 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon its approval and adoption by the City Council. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 7th day of April 2025.
