City firefighter, visited the Waterloo Fire Department, the City of Cedar Falls
and toured John Deere. Captain Robinson told the real story of what happened
on September 11, 2001. Captain Robinson's engine company was only five minutes
out when the second tower fell. Captain Robinson presented the city a New York
Fire Department cap and a signed picture of the three firefighters putting up
the American flag on September 11.
Mayor Rooff stated that the Fire Commissioner of New York sent the city a
special award in recognition of our support of New York and the firefighters.
It was interesting to talk with Captain Robinson and understand what they are
going through. The airlines paid the air fares, and other firefighters put
together the funds to help defray other costs.
