RESOLUTION SUPPORTING AN APPLICATION BY BIG
HAND PEPPER, LLC, FOR THE IOWA WORKFORCE
HOUSING TAX CREDIT PROGRAM, TO CONSTRUCT 14
NEW SINGLE-FAMILY DWELLINGS ON THE FORMER
CASTLE HILL SCHOOL SITE, LOCATED AT 1720
MAYNARD AVENUE, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO
EXECUTE THE COMMUNITY INPUT FORM.
WHEREAS, Big Hand Pepper, LLC, herein referred to as "the Applicant," has proposed
the construction of fourteen (14) new single-family dwellings; and
WHEREAS, the proposed development is to be located on the former Castle Hill School
site situated at 1720 Maynard Avenue, within the jurisdiction of the City of Waterloo, Iowa; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Workforce Housing Tax Credit Program, administered by the Iowa
Economic Development Authority, offers critical incentives to support the development of
workforce housing projects aimed at fostering community growth and economic development;
and
WHEREAS, the Applicant intends to apply for tax incentives under the Iowa Workforce
Housing Tax Credit Program to support the financial feasibility and success of the project; and
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the proposed project aligns with the strategic
objectives and housing needs of the City of Waterloo, and that providing support for the
Applicant's application for the Iowa Workforce Housing Tax Credit Program is advantageous for
the community;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The City Council hereby supports the application by Big Hand Pepper, LLC to the Iowa
Economic Development Authority for the Iowa Workforce Housing Tax Credit Program for the
construction of fourteen (14) new single-family dwellings on the former Castle Hill School site,
located at 1720 Maynard Avenue.
2. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute said document on behalf of the City of
Waterloo, Iowa.
