RESOLUTION NO. 2025-382
RESOLUTION APPROVING PRELIMINARY PLANS,
SPECIFICATIONS, FORM OF CONTRACT, ETC., SETTING
DATE OF BID OPENING AS JULY 10, 2025, AND DATE OF
PUBLIC HEARING AS JULY 21, 2025, IN CONJUNCTION
WITH ASBESTOS ABATEMENT SERVICES, CONTRACT
AB-2025-07-09P, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO
PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo has prepared preliminary plans, specifications, and
the form of contract for Asbestos Abatement Services under Contract AB-2025-07-09P, which
will address the safe removal and handling of asbestos -containing materials in identified
municipal properties; and
WHEREAS, proper asbestos abatement is critical to maintaining public health and safety
standards, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the
handling and disposal of hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to set a date for the opening of bids to solicit qualified
contractors who can meet the specified requirements, and subsequently, to hold a public hearing
to discuss the project details and receive public comments or concerns before proceeding with
the contract.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The preliminary plans, specifications, form of contract, and related documents for
Contract AB-2025-07-09P are hereby approved.
2. The date for the opening of bids for Asbestos Abatement Services is set for July 10,
2025, and the public hearing on the proposed contract and specifications is set for July 21, 2025.
3. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing in accordance
with applicable laws and city policies, ensuring adequate notice to the public.
