RESOLUTION NO. 2025-421
RESOLUTION APPROVING A PROFESSIONAL SERVICE
AGREEMENT WITH AECOM FOR AN EMERGENCY
BUILDING INSPECTION AT 325 WEST PARK AVENUE,
WATERLOO, IOWA.
WHEREAS, the building located at 325 West Park Avenue in Waterloo, Iowa, has
experienced a structural failure, specifically a partial collapse of the southeast wall, which poses
potential threats to public safety; and
WHEREAS, an immediate emergency building inspection is required to assess the
structural integrity of the building and determine appropriate actions for public safety, including
potential rehabilitation or demolition of the existing structure; and
WHEREAS, AECOM, a professional engineering and consulting firm, possesses the
expertise needed to perform such an inspection and to provide recommendations regarding
building rehabilitation or demolition; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Waterloo to engage AECOM based in
Waterloo, Iowa, to ensure a prompt and thorough inspection is conducted to safeguard the
welfare of the community and address the building's condition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. The City Council hereby approves the Professional Service Agreement with AECOM
to conduct an emergency building inspection of the building at 325 West Park Avenue.
2. That the Mayor City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said documents on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
