RESOLUTION NO. 2025-434
RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMISSION OF AN IOWA
DOT TRAFFIC SAFETY IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM GRANT
APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $37,000.00 FOR A
COMBINATION TRAFFIC SIGNAL MAST -ARM POLE AND
THE ADDITION OF A LEFT TURN LANE FOR EASTBOUND
TRAFFIC ON BROADWAY STREET AT BURTON AVENUE.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is committed to enhancing roadway safety and the
efficiency of its traffic management systems to better serve the community; and
WHEREAS, the proposed project consists of installing a combination traffic signal mast -
arm pole and adding a left turn lane for eastbound traffic on Broadway Street at Burton Avenue
to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) offers Traffic Safety
Improvement Program grants to assist municipalities in funding projects that enhance traffic
safety; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo seeks to apply for a grant in the amount of $37,000.00
from the Iowa DOT to fund these traffic improvements.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. That the submission of an Iowa DOT Traffic Safety Improvement Program Grant
Application in the amount of $37,000.00 for the installation of a combination traffic signal mast -
arm pole and the addition of a left turn lane for eastbound traffic on Broadway Street at Burton
Avenue is hereby approved.
2. That the Public Works Division Manager is hereby authorized to execute and submit
the necessary application documents and to take any additional actions required to complete and
administer any resulting grant contract.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of August 2025.
