RESOLUTION NO. 2025-432
RESOLUTION APPROVING SUBMISSION OF TRAFFIC
SAFETY IMPROVEMENT GRANT APPLICATION IN THE
AMOUNT OF $251,000.00, FOR SIGNALIZATION OF NB US
63 (1ST STREET) AND SYCAMORE STREET
INTERSECTION.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo recognizes the need to improve safety and traffic flow
at the intersection of NB US 63 (1st Street) and Sycamore Street due to significant congestion
and safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, the signalization of this intersection is an essential project that will enhance
traffic management and reduce the likelihood of accidents; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation provides financial support through
the Traffic Safety Improvement Program Grant to fund eligible projects that improve road safety
and efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo desires to apply for said grant in the amount of
$251,000.00 to facilitate the signalization project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WATERLOO, IOWA,
1. That the submission of a grant application to the Iowa Department of Transportation's
Traffic Safety Improvement Program in the amount of $251,000.00 is hereby approved for the
signalization project at the NB US 63 (1st Street) and Sycamore Street intersection.
2. That the Public Works Division Manager is hereby authorized to execute and submit
the necessary application documents and to take any additional actions required to complete and
administer any resulting grant contract.
