RESOLUTION APPROVING A DEVELOPMENT
AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR
HUMANITY FOR REHABILITATING ONE SINGLE-FAMILY
HOME LOCATED AT 427 IOWA STREET AND
CONVEYANCE OF THE PROPERTY SOUTH OF 427 IOWA
STREET FOR $1.00, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND
CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS the City of Waterloo, Iowa, seeks to support neighborhood revitalization
and affordable housing initiatives through strategic partnerships with community organizations;
and
WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity intends to undertake the rehabilitation
of a single-family home located at 427 Iowa Street, which aligns with the city's goals to enhance
living conditions and stabilize neighborhoods in the Walnut Neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, as part of the development initiative, the City agrees to convey the adjacent
property south of 427 Iowa Street to Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the nominal
consideration of$1.00 to support the rehabilitation efforts; and
WHEREAS, formalizing a Development Agreement is essential to delineate the
responsibilities of all parties involved and to ensure the objectives of the project are met in a
timely and beneficial manner for the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The Development Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the
rehabilitation of a single-family home at 427 Iowa Street, along with the conveyance of the
property south of 427 Iowa Street for$1.00, is hereby approved.
2. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said documents on
behalf of the City of Waterloo, Iowa.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of August 2025.
