RESOLUTION NO. 2025-484
RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
SEPTEMBER 15, 2025, TO APPROVE PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
ANSBOROUGH AVENUE CMAQ, TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER
OPTIC INSTALLATION FROM DOWNING AVENUE SOUTH
2.7 MILES TO FISCHER DRIVE TO US 218, IOWA DOT
GRANT PROJECT NUMBER 07-8155-784, AND INSTRUCT
THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the Ansborough Avenue CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality)
project involves the installation of fiber optic traffic signal infrastructure along a 2.7-mile stretch
from Downing Avenue to Fischer Drive, extending towards US 218, supported by Iowa DOT
Grant Project Number 07-8155-784; and
WHEREAS, this project is vital for improving traffic signal communication and
efficiency, thereby enhancing traffic flow, reducing congestion, and contributing positively to
environmental quality within the City of Waterloo; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to hold a public hearing in accordance with legal
requirements to present the project plans and specifications and obtain community feedback prior
to proceeding with procurement and implementation phases.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A public hearing is scheduled for September 15, 2025, where stakeholders and
community members will have the opportunity to review and provide input on the plans and
specifications for the Ansborough Avenue CMAQ Traffic Signal Fiber Optic Installation Project.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing in
accordance with applicable laws and city policies, ensuring adequate notice to the public.
