RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS
SEPTEMBER 15, 2025, APPROVING PLANS AND
SPECIFICATIONS IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE
BROADWAY STREET CMAQ, TRAFFIC SIGNAL FIBER
OPTIC INSTALLATION, BROADWAY STREET FROM US 63
NORTH 4.2 MILES TO US 218, IOWA DOT GRANT PROJECT
NUMBER 07-8155-785, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK
TO PUBLISH NOTICE.
WHEREAS, the Broadway Street CMAQ (Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality)
project involves the installation of fiber optic traffic signal infrastructure along a 4.2-mile stretch
from US 63 to US 218, supported by Iowa DOT Grant Project Number 07-8155-785; and
WHEREAS, this project is crucial for enhancing the traffic management system along
Broadway Street, aiming to improve signal timing, reduce congestion, and support overall air
quality improvements within the City of Waterloo; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing is needed to present the project plans and specifications,
enabling the city council to receive public input and ensure transparent communication with
stakeholders prior to project execution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. A public hearing is scheduled for September 15, 2025, for the purpose of reviewing
and approving the plans and specifications for the Broadway Street CMAQ Traffic Signal Fiber
Optic Installation Project.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing in
accordance with applicable laws and city policies, ensuring adequate notice to the public.
