RESOLUTION NO. 2025-488
RESOLUTION APPROVING THE SALE OF USED
EQUIPMENT/VEHICLES FROM THE PUBLIC WORKS
DEPARTMENT VIA THE PURPLE WAVE WEBSITE.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department of the City of Waterloo has identified certain
used equipment and vehicles that are deemed surplus to the operational needs of the department;
and
WHEREAS, the sale of surplus equipment and vehicles is a fiscally responsible practice
that provides the City with the opportunity to recuperate funds, reduce storage costs, and enhance
operational efficiency; and
WHEREAS, the Purple Wave website offers an established online auction platform that
allows municipalities to reach a broad audience of potential buyers, thereby maximizing the
potential return on sale of surplus assets.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The sale of used equipment and vehicles from the Public Works Department, as
identified and listed by the department, is hereby approved to be conducted via the Purple Wave
website.
2. The Public Works Depaitiuent is authorized to proceed with listing the identified
surplus items on the Purple Wave platform, ensuring that all listings comply with the city's asset
disposition policies and relevant state laws governing municipal property sales.
