RESOLUTION NO. 2025-495
RESOLUTION APPROVING PRIMARY HIGHWAY DETOUR
AGREEMENTS WITH THE IOWA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION TO ALLOW TRAFFIC TO BE
DETOURED TO VARIOUS PORTIONS OF RIDGEWAY
AVENUE, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE HIGHWAY 20
PAVEMENT REPLACEMENT PROJECT, NHSX-020-6(73)--
3H-07, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
SAID DOCUMENT.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo acknowledges the importance of facilitating the
Highway 20 Pavement Replacement Project (NHSX-020-6(73)--3H-07), aimed at improving the
infrastructure and ensuring roadway safety; and
WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) requires implementing
traffic detours to efficiently manage vehicular movement and reduce disruptions during
construction, with Ridgeway Avenue identified as a viable detour route; and
WHEREAS, the execution of the Primary Highway Detour Agreements will enable
coordinated efforts between the City of Waterloo and IDOT, ensuring minimal impact on local
traffic while supporting the successful execution of the Highway 20 project; and
WHEREAS, the proposed agreement outlines the responsibilities and commitments of
each party, establishing a framework for cooperation during the detour period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The proposed Primary Highway Detour Agreements with the Iowa Department of
Transportation, enabling the detouring of traffic to sections of Ridgeway Avenue in relation to
the Highway 20 Pavement Replacement Project, are hereby approved.
2. The Mayor is authorized and directed to execute said documents on behalf of the City
of Waterloo, Iowa.
