RESOLUTION NO. 2025-531
RESOLUTION APPROVING A DEVELOPMENT
AGREEMENT WITH IOWA HEARTLAND HABITAT FOR
HUMANITY FOR THE REHABILITATION OF 627 W. 3RD
STREET, INCLUDING AN ACQUISITION GRANT OF
$33,500.00, AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID DOCUMENTS.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo is committed to enhancing and promoting housing
developments and revitalizing neighborhoods within the city; and
WHEREAS, Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity has proposed to undertake the
rehabilitation of the property located at 627 W. 3rd Street, Waterloo, Iowa, for the purpose of
providing affordable housing options; and
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo recognizes the benefit of such developments to the
community and is supportive of assisting nonprofit organizations in pursuing housing projects
that serve the public interest; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of Waterloo has determined that it is in the best interest of
the City to enter into a Development Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for
said rehabilitation project; and
WHEREAS, the Development Agreement includes the provision of an acquisition grant
in the amount of Thirty-Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($33,500.00) to facilitate the
acquisition and rehabilitation of the said property; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to authorize the execution of necessary documents to
formalize this agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The Development Agreement with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity for the
rehabilitation of 627 W. 3rd Street is hereby approved.
2. The provision within the agreement of an acquisition grant totaling $33,500.00 is
authorized to be issued as part of the City's support for this project.
3. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized and directed to execute said documents on
behalf.
