RESOLUTION NO. 2025-509 RESOLUTION SETTING DATE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS OCTOBER 6, 2025, TO APPROVE A REZONE REQUEST BY MIDWEST DEVELOPMENT COMPANY ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO TO REZONE APPROXIMATELY 24.27 ACRES FROM "R-1" ONE AND TWO FAMILY RESIDENCE DISTRICT TO "R-1, R-P" PLANNED RESIDENCE DISTRICT TO CONSTRUCT SEVENTY HOMES LOCATED SOUTH OF ORANGE ROAD AND WEST OF KIMBALL AVENUE, AND INSTRUCT THE CITY CLERK TO PUBLISH NOTICE. WHEREAS, Midwest Development Company, on behalf of the City of Waterloo, has requested the rezoning of approximately 24.27 acres from "R-1" One and Two Family Residence District to "R-1, R-P" Planned Residence District; and WHEREAS, this rezoning is intended to facilitate the construction of seventy homes located south of Orange Road and west of Kimball Avenue. WHEREAS, Iowa Code requires a public hearing prior to rezoning property and necessitates setting a public hearing date. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo, Iowa, that: 1. The public hearing be set for October 6, 2025, to consider rezone request of Midwest Development Company, on behalf of the City of Waterloo, to rezone approximately 24.27 acres from "R-1" One- and Two -Family Residence District to "R-1, R-P" Planned Residence District. 2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to publish notice of said public hearing in accordance with applicable laws and city policies, ensuring adequate notice to the public.
