RESOLUTION NO. 2025-515
RESOLUTION APPROVING HOTEL/MOTEL GRANT
AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $3,000.00 TO MAIN STREET
WATERLOO FOR FUNDING FOR THE MAIN STREET IOWA
FALL MEETING AND $15,000.00 TO EXPERIENCE
WATERLOO FOR EVENT BARRIERS.
WHEREAS, the City of Waterloo collects hotel/motel tax revenues which are allocated,
in part, for discretionary distribution by the City Council for the promotion of tourism and
related community activities; and
WHEREAS, Main Street Waterloo has applied for a grant to fund the Main Street Iowa
Fall Meeting, which will benefit the local business community by fostering further development
and collaboration; and
WHEREAS, Experience Waterloo has applied for funding to acquire event barriers
essential for maintaining safety and facilitating a range of community events that increase visitor
traffic and improve local tourism; and
WHEREAS, the Hotel/Motel Grant Review Committee has reviewed and recommended
grant awards for the purposes described in the total amount of $18,000.00; and
WHEREAS, the allocation of these funds has been reviewed and recommended for
approval.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Waterloo,
Iowa, that:
1. The City Council hereby approves the awarding of a Hotel/Motel Grant in the amount
of $3,000.00 to Main Street Waterloo and $15,000.00 to Experience Waterloo.
2. The Finance Department of the City of Waterloo is hereby authorized and directed to
process the payment of the grant awards in accordance with city accounting policies.
